Our Practice

The East Hartford Animal Clinic was established in 1988, by Dr. Wilfredo Barrios. Dr Barrios attended the University of Mexico where he received a degree in Veterinary Medicine in 1983. He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) as well as the Connecticut Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA).

In addition to dogs and cats, Dr. Barrios enjoys working with and treating exotic animals such as ferrets, birds, reptiles, rabbits, rodents, and guinea pigs. Dr. Barrios’s special interest is ferret preventative medicine and surgery. He worked closely with the Ferret Association of Connecticut (F.A.C.T.)* for close to 30 years. Over the years Dr. Barrios has worked intimately with many shelters, adoption groups, and low-cost spay/neuter programs. We currently work regularly with Connecticut Cat Connections and Sarah's Second Chance. We offer our own affordable spay and neuter program called STITCH.
